Monica Beckwith

Monica Beckwith is a world-renowned expert in Java Virtual Machine (JVM) performance tuning and optimization. As a Senior Principal Engineer at Microsoft, she leads performance and manageability efforts across upstream OpenJDK and the Microsoft Build of OpenJDK. Her work focuses on optimizing JVM-based workloads for large-scale cloud and data-center environments, specifically within Azure.

With a career spanning over 20 years, Monica has held pivotal roles at some of the industry's most influential companies. She previously served as the JVM Performance Architect at Arm and led Oracle’s Garbage First (G1) Garbage Collector performance team. Her technical contributions to the HotSpot VM include NUMA-aware allocation, JIT compiler optimizations, and various enhancements to garbage collection heuristics.
