AI-Powered Coding with Claude Code

Learn practical workflows, hands-on coding techniques, and structured interactio

Wednesday, 1:00 PM MDT

AI coding tools are no longer just autocomplete or chat windows. Claude Code brings an agentic coding assistant directly into the developer workflow, where it can read a codebase, explain existing logic, edit files, run commands, manage context, and support structured development tasks from the terminal or IDE.

This half-day workshop gives developers hands-on experience using Claude Code as a practical coding partner while still keeping the human in control. Participants will learn the everyday workflows first: asking questions about code, creating and editing files, running commands, managing approvals, using Plan Mode, resuming sessions, and controlling context with commands such as /clear, /compact, /rewind, and /memory.

The workshop then moves into more advanced team-oriented patterns. Participants will create reusable project assets including Claude Code skills, custom commands, and specialist subagents. They will practice a supervised delegation workflow where the human directs the process, Claude Code performs the implementation work, and focused subagents help with planning, testing, and review.

By the end of the session, attendees will have worked through a realistic Claude Code workflow and built a small reusable “team kit” that demonstrates how skills, commands, subagents, and plugin packaging can standardize AI-assisted development across a project or team.

Format: 3-hour interactive workshop (2 × 90-minute sessions + 30-minute break).

Audience: Developers and technical professionals with basic programming knowledge.

Topics include:

  • Claude Code setup, interaction model, and core development workflows
  • File creation, code explanation, editing, command execution, and session resume
  • Default Mode, Plan Mode, Accept Edits, and bypass permissions tradeoffs
  • Context management with slash commands, memory files, and project guidance
  • Using @, #, and ! shortcuts for files, memory, and shell commands
  • Building a project skill with deterministic helper scripts
  • Creating and using planner, test-runner, and reviewer subagents
  • Understanding prompt constraints versus tool-level constraints
  • Creating reusable custom commands such as a /ship checklist
  • Packaging commands, agents, and skills into a shareable team kit
  • Using the same workflows from the terminal and VS Code

Audience: Developers and technical professionals who want practical, hands-on experience using Claude Code responsibly and effectively in real development work.
